New Jersey Cooperative Education Association (NJCEA) Scholarship Program

The purpose of the scholarship awards program is to select outstanding students who best exemplify the student community that cooperative education and work-based learning represents.  Criteria for selection will include the following:

Selection Criteria

  1. All students must be in the 12th grade, enrolled in a bona fide cooperative education program, unless they apply for the WBL non-coop scholarship, and will graduate in June 2026.
  2. Coordinators who are members of NJCEA as of January 30, 2026 are eligible to submit applications of student candidates.  (The original date was December 31, 2025, but was extended for members).
  3. Candidates must complete an application form (found in this brochure).  The student’s coordinator must mail/email the completed application to the scholarship chairperson by March 1, 2026.  No additional materials are to be submitted with this application.  This is simply an intent to participate.
  4. Finalists must submit the following documents together to Mr. Hillard by March 27, 2026 and attend an online/telephone interview, weeks of April 13/20, 2026 at a designated time.
  • Two letters of recommendation from a school administrator, teacher, or counselor.
  • Letter of recommendation from the student’s employer.
  • Resume
  • Optional documents (not required):  Transcripts, awards, projects, photographs, etc.
  1. Senior Non-Co-op WBL Scholarship applicants must submit the following:
  • One letter of recommendation from the WBL coordinator
  • One letter of recommendation from the WBL employer/trainer
  • 250-word essay-Topic- “How Will My WBL Experience Enhance My Future”
  • Documents must be mailed together to Mr. Hillard by March 27, 2026. No interview!
  • For non-co-op WBL only.  Must complete WBL senior year during semester one.
  1. Scholarship recipients will be notified through their coordinators.  Each winner is required to contact the school sponsoring the scholarship prior to May 15, 2026.  Each school reserves the right to establish fees beyond tuition.  It is up to the student to inquire as to the total cost of the school’s program.  Coordinators must notify scholarship acceptance to Mr. Hillard by June 1, 2026.

The New Jersey Cooperative Education Association is a non-profit organization.  NJCEA is not liable for any participating school changes in tuition, scholarship amount, registration fees, typing errors or school closings.  A name and phone number follows each scholarship.  Please contact the school directly if you have any questions regarding the information listed.
