TITLE

Anticipated Adult Education & Community Education Youth Counselor – Career Services Part Time (up to 24 hours per week)

JOB DESCRIPTION

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with job seekers and employees to develop skills required to meet the ever-changing world of work. Key understanding of business and industry to mentor clients and foster positive relationships with job seekers and employers. Required skills include ability to work in a team environment, effective communication skills, customer service oriented, and computer and database literate. Ability to take initiative to organize and plan, to act in a leadership capacity, and manage multiple tasks.

LOCATION: In-Person; varies between Carney's Point and Salem City.

REPORTS TO: The Assistant Superintendent Curriculum, Instruction, and Grants or Designee

JOB GOALS: Responsible for providing seamless service delivery to job seekers and employers. Career Services assist adult and youth job seekers with identifying, preparing for, and obtaining career opportunities. Seek to break down barriers to career opportunities, instructing clients on the process to obtain services, linking with eligible resources, and counseling students throughout the processes to ensure successful program completion. Provide case management services for assigned clients.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide intake, mentoring and counseling services to clients seeking career services
• Help students with their level of career readiness and decide on their career choices, and to address their needs
• Ensure client eligibility for appropriate services
• Complete client assessments and online resume needs
• Receives client referrals and refers clients to community agencies for services, programs and funding
• Monitors, tracks and reports student and program data to achieve program goals.
• Work with enrolled adults on career mentoring activities, job seeking skills, life skills training, employment services, and career development
• Follow-up communication with all clients regarding employment, certifications, and further needs
• Advocates on behalf of clients for employment funding, short term training requests, mobility aids, skills enhancement
• Implement programmatic components, acting as a facilitator and instructor as needed
• Other responsibilities as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Twelve-month year
• Hourly Rate $25.50-34.81
• Part-Time (up to 24-hours per week)

EVALUATION: The evaluation shall be done in accordance with Board of Education policy and regulation and shall include minimally a written mid-year assessment and a written end-of-the-year evaluation. (This job description specifies minimal requirements of the job and is not intended to limit the job responsibilities or duties. The position may be grant-funded and upon insufficient funds will terminate.)
