Dr. DeCastro was a pillar of the medical community, devoting his life to the field of obstetrics and gynecology. He excelled in his studies and graduated from medical school at the age of 21. He went on to do his fellowship in Endocrinology and Infertility in New York. For many years, he proudly served as a longtime Chief of Obstetrics at Salem Memorial Hospital, where he delivered over 20,000 babies throughout his illustrious career.
Beyond his medical practice, Dr. DeCastro was a dedicated community leader. He contributed his time and expertise to various organizations. Dr. DeCastro also served as a valued board member at Salem Community College, Salem Memorial Hospital, and Salem County Vocational Technical School. His passion for education and commitment to the betterment of his community were evident in his tireless efforts. The SCVTS Educational Foundation honored Dr. DeCastro as their leadership award recipient in 2009.
